Queensland Community Development Conference
"Reimagining the past, shaping our future"
Taking place in magnificent Far North Queensland at Port Douglas, the biennial Queensland Community Development Conference is your opportunity to connect with change makers, connectors and collaborators, workers and dreamers who are passionate about community driven change. This year's theme is "Reimagining the past, shaping our future" and whether you are new to community development or an experienced practitioner, this event offers a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, explore future directions, and discuss strategies for fostering meaningful change within local contexts.
Held over 3 days, from 14th to 16th October 2025, the conference will be held "street party" style in Mowbray Street adjacent to Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre, with events held across several stunning venues in the heart of beautiful Port Douglas, just two blocks from vibrant Macrossan Street, with numerous accommodation options within walking distance, it’s the perfect chance to combine professional growth with the beauty and vibrancy of tropical paradise. Borderlands Community Development Conference Victoria
A Victorian Conference on Community Development We invite all engaged in community-based and community-oriented work to join us in Footscray, Naarm/Melbourne, for a much-needed gathering on Community Development (CD). After what feels like a hibernation for CD practitioners, this is our chance to reconnect, share stories, and reaffirm our commitment to working with communities—not just for or ‘to’ them.
Where?
Set in Footscray, a place rich with Aboriginal history, working-class resilience, and migrant activism, this conference is an opportunity to learn, contribute, and build momentum for a more just and sustainable future. Join us as we recommit to the practice of developing community—together.

● Friday 17 October 2025 – 9.00am – 5.00pm (Conference day 1 - max 120 attendees)
