This represents a significant step for the Institute and we invite you to engage with us if you plan to be at any of the conferences we are launching at.

We invite you to be involved with the Australian Participatory Community Development Institute if community is important to you...

Australian Participatory Community Development Institute (formally The Community Development Institute) intends to strengthen and sustain the practice of community development within policy, practice, education and training, research and civil society development across many sectors. In 2022, this Initiative was established by a group of Queensland citizens and practitioners based on a growing concern that there is no formal community development structure that can speak with authority about community development to government, universities, and other relevant parties.

In late 2025 the Australian Participatory Community Development Institute was officially launched at the Queensland Community Development Conference in Port Douglas and the Victorian Community Development Conference in Naarm / Melbourne.

This marked another significant step in the Institute becoming fully operational. In February 2026 membership applications for the Institute will be distributed. If you are interested in participating in the Institute as a member, please complete an EOI which can be found on the ‘Get Involved’ tab.
